QuoteIQ pros and cons: the honest list

Every tool has trade-offs. These are QuoteIQ's, from the perspective of a small home-service business deciding whether to commit: what it does better than most, where it costs more than it looks, and which gaps would rule it out for you.

In one line

QuoteIQ's strengths are quoting power and price at the low end; its weaknesses are tier gating, usage-based AI costs and a trial that needs a card.

The pros, explained

Quoting is genuinely fast

The AI Estimator turns a description and photos into draft line items you then check and adjust, and Options estimates let customers choose good, better or best. In our use, this is where QuoteIQ earns its fee. App-store reviewers repeatedly praise how quickly they can send professional-looking quotes.

A lot for $29.99

Essentials includes estimating, invoicing, card and ACH payments, consumer financing, the calendar and every AI tool. Jobber Core is $49 and Housecall Pro Basic $79 on monthly billing. Our pricing guide lays it all out.

Measuring from the truck

MapMeasure Pro measures lawns, roofs, driveways and fence lines from satellite and fills the estimate. For exterior trades it removes a site visit from many jobs.

Simple seat pricing

Every extra user is $25 on every plan, so growing by one person never forces an upgrade.

The cons, explained

The features you want next are a tier away

Online booking, route optimization and automated review requests all sit on Elite. That is a $100 to $270 monthly jump for a small crew that only wants one of them. Housecall Pro includes online booking on its entry plan; see QuoteIQ vs Housecall Pro.

Usage costs on top

AI and calling spend IQ Credits. The Virtual Call Team uses 125 credits per minute, so Essentials' 500 credits cover about four minutes of calls. Credits do not roll over. See IQ Credits explained.

A trial that needs a card

Jobber, Housecall Pro and Workiz all offer card-free trials. QuoteIQ's converts to paid automatically and fees are non-refundable, so set a reminder. Our trial guide helps.

Real gaps for some businesses

No payroll or bookkeeping, QuickBooks Online only, English only, phone-based GPS only, and lighter reporting than ServiceTitan. QuoteIQ's own comparison pages admit these.

Pros and cons by crew size

Solo: the pros dominate. Essentials covers quoting, payments and the AI tools, and few solo operators need routing or online booking. Watch the credits if you plan to let the AI receptionist answer every call.

Two to four people: mostly pros, provided Beginner or Pro covers your must-haves. Pro is where QuickBooks Online, job costing and texting from a business number arrive.

Five to ten people: the cons start to bite. If you want online booking or routing, you are paying $299.99 for Elite, which is fair value at eight or more users but steep for five.

Over ten: Max adds crews and sales tracking, but businesses with large dispatch teams should look at QuoteIQ vs ServiceTitan.

So, is it right for you?

If your list of must-haves sits on Essentials, Beginner or Pro, the pros clearly win. If you need Elite for one feature, compare it against QuoteIQ alternatives first. Our full QuoteIQ review has the verdict by crew size.

QuoteIQ pros and cons FAQ

What is the biggest advantage of QuoteIQ?

Quoting. Every plan includes the AI Estimator, four estimate formats, e-signatures and deposits, and Beginner adds satellite measuring. For a contractor whose revenue depends on getting accurate quotes out quickly, that is more quoting capability per dollar than most rivals offer at the entry level.

What is the biggest downside of QuoteIQ?

Tier gating. Several features small crews want sit on expensive plans: QuickBooks Online and job costing need Pro at $199.99, while online booking, route optimization and automated review requests need Elite at $299.99. Check exactly which plan your must-have features need before you start.

Is QuoteIQ hard to learn?

Most app-store reviewers call it easy to use, and QuoteIQ publishes video tutorials and a help center. The flip side, mentioned on Capterra, is that there are so many features that setup takes time. Start with the price book and estimates, then add scheduling and payments.

Are there hidden costs with QuoteIQ?

Not hidden, but easy to miss: IQ Credits for AI and calls, credit top-ups from $25, the AI Website Builder at $34.99 a month below Max, unpublished payment processing fees, and $25 per extra user. The AI receptionist is the item most likely to increase your bill.

Who should not use QuoteIQ?

Businesses that need payroll, QuickBooks Desktop, Spanish-language crew apps, vehicle GPS hardware or a dispatch board for 20 or more technicians. Crews that need cheap online booking may also do better with Housecall Pro, which includes it on its entry plan.
