QuoteIQ for Plumbers: Fit, Features and Pricing
Plumbing lives on the phone: burst pipes, backed-up drains, water heaters that quit on a Sunday. We looked at how QuoteIQ pitches itself to plumbers and drain cleaners, and which parts of the app actually earn their keep in that work.

A good fit for owner-operator plumbers and small drain-cleaning outfits that want fast photo-based quotes, after-hours call answering and card payments on the spot. Plumbing shops that run memberships, a large dispatch board or heavy parts tracking on a budget will find the useful features sit on the more expensive tiers.

What QuoteIQ says for plumbers
QuoteIQ's plumbing software page (published October 2025) leads with “picks up when you can’t”. Its trade-specific claims are Virtual Call Team call summaries, AI Estimator quotes from photos, Job Costing on Pro and up, and Inventory and GPS tracking on Elite and up. There is also a plumbing FAQ subpage.
The drain cleaning page goes further. It pitches 24/7 AI dispatch for “3 AM emergency” calls and lists price ranges it says the AI Estimator generates: snaking $150–$500, hydrojetting $300–$1,400 and camera inspection $125–$500. It positions QuoteIQ against Roto-Rooter for independent operators. Those ranges are vendor content based on cost-guide data, so use your own rates.
Features that matter most for plumbing
Answering and dispatching the emergency call
The Virtual Call Team answers, qualifies and records callers around the clock, and it is listed on every plan. From Pro you also get the ClientHub business number for two-way texting and calling, and On The Way texts. Assigning jobs to individual techs needs Pro as well; see scheduling and dispatch.
Quoting from photos at the job
A homeowner texts a photo of a corroded water heater; you attach it to the AI Estimator, answer its follow-up questions and get a draft with line items. QuoteIQ says this typically costs 5–15 credits per estimate. Options estimates let you show a repair versus a replacement on one page.
Getting paid before you leave
Card, ACH, Apple Pay and Google Pay, deposits and financing are on every plan, covered in invoicing and payments. Processing rates are not published, so ask before you compare with your current processor.
Which plan to pick by crew size
| Crew | Plan | What you gain |
|---|---|---|
| Owner-operator | Essentials, $29.99 | Quotes, invoices, payments, financing, AI answering (500 credits/mo) |
| Owner + apprentice | Beginner, $99.99 | QuoteIQ Cam for before/after photos, expense tracking, 1,500 credits |
| 3–4 plumbers | Pro, $199.99 | Job Costing, QuickBooks Online, business phone, tech assignment |
| 5–10 plumbers | Elite, $299.99 | Parts inventory by truck, GPS, route optimization, online booking |
Call-heavy shops should note that Pro includes 3,000 credits and Elite 5,000. At 125 credits a minute for AI calls, that is about 24 and 40 minutes respectively if credits went only to calls. Our pricing breakdown covers top-ups.
Honest gaps for plumbers
- AI answering on every plan for after-hours calls
- Photo-to-quote drafting suits water heater and fixture work
- Financing for repipes and replacements
- No contract, monthly billing
- Truck parts inventory needs Elite
- Customer self-booking (InstaSchedule) needs Elite
- AI call minutes are metered and can add up
- No vehicle GPS hardware, phone only
- No membership or service-agreement engine like larger plumbing platforms
If emergencies make up most of your revenue, test call handling hard during the 14-day trial. The trial comes with 250 credits, which is only about two minutes of AI calls, so watch the balance.
Alternatives worth a look
Plumbing shops that live on inbound calls and paid ads should compare QuoteIQ vs Workiz. If online booking on a cheap plan matters, QuoteIQ vs Housecall Pro is worth reading; QuoteIQ itself concedes HCP's booking advantage. Bigger plumbing companies with memberships and office staff belong in QuoteIQ vs ServiceTitan.
Plumbers: common questions
Is QuoteIQ good for a one-person plumbing business?
It can be. Essentials at $29.99 a month covers estimates, invoices, card payments, financing and the AI receptionist. The catch is that the business phone, job costing and QuickBooks start on Pro at $199.99. Many solo plumbers run Essentials for a while, then move up once the paperwork outgrows it.
Can QuoteIQ answer emergency plumbing calls at night?
Yes. The Virtual Call Team answers 24/7, qualifies the caller and records the details as a contact. It is metered at 125 IQ Credits per minute, and the help center lists a $1.25 base fee per call. If nights are busy, budget for credit top-ups, which start at $25 for 2,500 credits.
Does QuoteIQ track plumbing parts on the truck?
Inventory with stock by truck or warehouse, reorder points and purchase orders is on the Elite plan at $299.99 and up. On lower plans you can still add parts as line items on estimates and invoices, but stock levels are not tracked. Small shops often manage fine without it at first.
Are the drain cleaning prices on QuoteIQ's site built into the app?
We could not confirm that. QuoteIQ's drain cleaning page lists ranges such as hydrojetting at $300 to $1,400 and says the AI Estimator generates them from cost-guide data. Treat those as marketing examples. Load your own rates into the price book so quotes match your market.
What should a plumber test during the QuoteIQ trial?
Run real calls through the AI receptionist, quote a water heater from a customer's photo, collect a card payment on site and check the QuickBooks sync if you trial Pro. Note that the trial includes 250 IQ Credits and needs a card, so set a reminder before day 14.
